Testing Center FAQs

  1. Does LSU Alexandria accept standbys for the PRAXIS exam?
No! Education Testing Service no longer provides a service for stand-by testing. See www.ets.org/praxis for more information on late registration and emergency registration.
  2. Where can I pay my LSU Alexandria test administration fee?
Certain tests (i.e. CLEP, SAM Challenge, Independent Study, DSST) require a $20 test administration fee due to LSUA. You should report first to the Testing Center, where you will be given a payment slip to take to Accounting in Abrams room 113.
  3. Do I need to bring proper identification?
Each examinee must present a current picture ID in order to test in the Testing Center. Some high stakes testing companies, such as Pearson VUE, require two IDs. Read your directions carefully to ensure that you bring proper documentation.
  4. What if my ID does not match the name on the ticket or registration?
You should check with the company providing the test for which you are registered (ETS, ACT, or Pearson VUE for example). They will advise you about the proper documentation to bring (i.e. marriage certificate or other secondary ID). Call the Testing Center before coming in if you are uncertain. (427-4492)
  5. Where can I get registration packets for ACT, PRAXIS, Independent Study, LSAT, GRE, and PARA PRO?
Registration packet can be found in the reception area of Student Services, just to the left of the elevator.
  6. What items are not permitted in the Testing Center?
No materials will be allowed in the Testing Center unless specified by the instructor. Examinees will not be allowed to bring books, notebooks, paper, book bags, purses, cell phones, or food/drink into the Testing Center. Lockers are provided for the security of personal items.
  7. How should I dress for my exam?
It is always a good idea to dress in layers for comfort in indoor buildings. A sweater or jacket is recommended.
  8. Can I just show up for an examination?
Examinees must schedule appointment with the Testing Coordinator. Call 427-4492.
  9. What if there is a power or cable outage?
If this should happen while you are testing, your test will be rescheduled if the power is not restored quickly.
  10. What if I am caught cheating?
Examinees caught giving or receiving assistance during a test will be required to turn in his/her testing materials and leave the Testing Center. Examinees asked to leave the Testing Center will not be permitted to return, their test will not be scored, and no refund will be given.
