Career Services

The purpose of Career Services is to assist students and alumni in choosing a career, developing job search skills, and obtaining employment in their chosen careers. To make an appointment with a career counselor come to the Student Services (above the bookstore), Room W206, or call 318.473.6545.

The Student Services Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A career counselor can assist in exploring your interests, abilities, and values and identify your career choice and alternatives

  • Job Fair

    The LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY ALEXANDRIA JOB FAIR is held each spring semester in March in the Barbara Brumfield Caffey Annex.

    Representatives from business, industry, and other organization attend the Job Fair and provide career information for all students. All students are invited to the Job Fair. Prospective graduates can make personal contacts with employers, obtain application forms, distribute their resumes, and schedule appointments for interviews. Some employers schedule interview appointments prior to the Job Fair, and conduct interviews during or after Job Fair.

    The following list of activities will help graduating seniors prepare for Job Fair:

    • Secure a copy of the LSUA Placement Manual and use the information provided.
    • Prepare a personal resume using the LSUA Resume Tutorial & Builder.
    • Compose application letters.
    • Learn how to interview.
    • Purchase appropriate interview attire to wear to Job Fair and interviews.
    • Make an appointment with a career counselor to make sure that you are completely prepared.
    • Attend Job Fair, consult with employers, and provide copies of your resume.

    LSUA Placement Manual - A copy of the LSUA Placement Manual is available to assist prospective graduates in their job search.

    Some subjects included in this manual are: marketing your college degree, how to apply for a job, resume writing skills, job search correspondence, interview skills, and dining out etiquette.

    Come to Student Services, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Room W206 (above the bookstore) to get your copy of the LSUA PLACEMENT MANUAL.
